Pop-Art
Pop-Art is an abbreviation of popular art, which originated in the USA and in England. It revolted against the snobbish and seriousness of museums and wanted to bring art to the common people. It is a typical movement which grew from a certain “zeitgeist”, such as freedom, sexual revolution and woman’s emancipation.

The topics of pop-art are borrowed from everyday consumer products, kitsch, publicity, television, strips, newspapers and illustrated magazines, as it where the glorification and idealisation of consumer society and its everyday banality.

|
|
The majority of the paintings have large to very large dimensions but pop-art is also sculptures, collages and assemblies using different materials processed together such as photographs, detritus, objects and painting. |
|
Important artists are Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Roy Lichtenstein, Alan Jones. Keith Haring en Burton Morris were heavily influenced by this art movement of the 1960-th and are these days being classified under post pop-art.
